    ‘Feed the Need’ food drive offers free 2024 Kern County Fair admission for non-perishable foods

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) and the Kern County Fair have announced the return of the annual “Feed the Need” food drive, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024.

    The food drive will take place from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Kern County Fair entrances, located at 1142 P Street, Bakersfield.

    The event aims to help restock local food pantries across Kern County where food insecurity remains a critical issue.

    In 2022, 14.3% of adults in County experienced food insecurity, surpassing both states and national averages. The issue is more severe for children, with more than 20% facing uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.

    To participate in the 2024 “Feed the Need” food drive, attendees must bring six canned or non-perishable food items to any Kern County Fair entrance will receive free admission to the fair that day.

    The food collected will be distributed to local food pantries and community centers, which rely heavily on public donations.
