Farmworker dies in crash at Wonderful Pistachio & Almonds Company

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Wonderful Company is investigating a deadly crash that took the life of one of its workers Monday night.

The company confirmed to 17 News the crash happened at the Wonderful Pistachio and Almonds Company in Lost Hills just after 6 p.m. Monday.

Wonderful has not said exactly what happened.

A spokesperson said worker, Jose Lopez, was the passenger in a vehicle that collided with a truck on the property.

Lopez had worked for Wonderful for more than a decade.

This is the second fatal crash on Wonderful’s property in a month. A farm worker was crushed by farm equipment in Wonderful’s orchards last month.

Cal/OSHA is still investigating that death.
