BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a woman who collided with a tree on New Stine Road on Saturday.

Coroner officials say Michelle Jean Burton, 65, of Bakersfield was the driver of a vehicle that collided with a tree in the 200 block of new Stine Road around 12:48 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene the vehicle was engulfed in flames, according to police. Burton was removed from the vehicle by bystanders before it caught fire.

Investigation showed Burton was driving “erratically” on northbound New Stine Road when she conducted a U-turn on Stockdale Highway when the vehicle drove over the center divider and struck a tree.
