BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) –A family is calling for action after a woman acting as a good Samaritan died after she was hit by a car while attempting to intervene in a fight in northwest Bakersfield.
“Complete shock, complete utter shock, never in a million years would I think it would be my mother,” said Alyse Fuller.
20-year-old Alyse Fuller said that was completely shocked after learning her mother 38-year-old Shelli Janae Fuller was hospitalized after a collision on Knudsen and Olive drives.
Pajaretes: The eye-opening drink of ranchers According to police, on Aug. 22, Fuller stopped her vehicle to intervene in a fight and while attempting to stop the fight, at around 4:40 a.m., she was struck by a passing vehicle.
“She dedicated her life to saving every person that she possibly could, it doesn’t matter if you’re a stranger, if you’re an animal, it doesn’t matter, and she was the best mom in the world,” said Fuller.
Alyse Fuller said her mom was in the ICU for about two weeks and eventually was declared brain dead.
“The moment we seen her, it was not that, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing that was not my mom, it was…no. I could never get that image out of my head ever again. It’s just on repeat,” said Fuller.
A spokesperson with BPD told 17 News the driver who struck Fuller remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
However, no arrests have been made and the investigation of the collision is still ongoing.
Fuller died from her injuries on Sept. 1, leaving behind two daughters.
“It makes me more mad, I’m super angry if I’m going to be honest, it’s sickening nobody understands the depth of it until its them,” said Fuller.
She said now is the time for the driver of the vehicle, who she believes is a woman, to come forward and take responsibility.
“I just want an apology if that’s possible from the lady or just some sympathy,” said Fuller. “That would be my justice, and some compassion from the whole system.”

“She was a pure soul, she would light up any room, you would know when she walked into a room,” said Fuller.
The family plans to have a memorial for Fuller on Saturday near the intersection and has set up a GofundMe for funeral expenses.
