BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Kern County jury has convicted a man of leading police on a high-speed chase during which he drove a stolen vehicle against the flow of traffic as he attempted to evade officers.

Brady Anderson, 26, was found guilty Friday of four felony and two misdemeanor counts and faces up to nine years and four months in prison at next month’s sentencing hearing, prosecutors said.

On Feb. 25, an Alhambra resident was carjacked, and early the next morning Delano police found the stolen vehicle with Anderson behind the wheel, according to a District Attorney’s Office release.

Anderson fled and a chase began in which he drove 60 to 80 mph in residential zones, and, upon reaching the city’s outskirts, accelerated to more than 100 mph, according to the release. The chase was called off when Anderson started driving against the flow of traffic.

McFarland police and sheriff’s deputies arrived and assisted in searching for the vehicle. It was found abandoned about 10 miles from where Anderson first fled.

Two hours later, Anderson was found atop a railway carriage and taken into custody, according to the release.
