    Jewelry theft suspect posed as interested buyer on OfferUp: Bakersfield PD

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield police are asking for help to identify a man who allegedly used OfferUp to steal jewelry from a seller.

    The Bakersfield Police Department said the theft happened on Aug. 9, at around 5 p.m. According to police, the suspect arranged to meet the victim through OfferUp in the 1700 block of Montgomery Avenue, pretending to be a buyer interested in purchasing a necklace.

    Officials says the suspect took possession of the necklace and ran from the scene.

    The suspect is described as a male in his mid- to late-20s, wearing a black basketball hat, red T-shirt, and black shorts.

    Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Detective H. Lugo at 661-326-3553 or the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
