BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Tehachapi student who allegedly threatened a school shooting on Snapchat was arrested by police officers on Wednesday.

The Tehachapi Police Department investigated a student at Jacobsen Middle School making threats of school violence on Sept. 25 and arrested a 12-year-old student. Social media posts were made with pictures of an airsoft gun and captions telling others ‘not to show up to school’, according to police.

After investigating, the student had no weapons to carry out the acts of violence, police determined, and the student stated the posts were a ‘joke’.

Tehachapi police arrested the student based on the seriousness of the threats and reiterate to the community how important officers treat these incidents.

Threats towards schools or causing harm to students will not be tolerated.
