BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Jonathan Knight’s trial on charges including first-degree murder in a shooting that killed a 5-year-old boy continues Wednesday.

17 News will live blog the proceedings.

Knight faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted in the 2017 shooting death of Kason Guyton.

The child was fatally wounded while traveling in a vehicle with his brother and their mother’s boyfriend — a gang member who is believed to have been the intended target.

Much of Tuesday’s testimony focused on the seizing by police of surveillance footage and cellphones, as well as authoring warrants for wiretaps on the phones of Knight and co-defendant Jeremy King.

King accepted a plea deal and has agreed to testify.

Also Tuesday, a woman King dated testified they swapped vehicles after he asked to use her car the night of the shooting. King drove while Knight allegedly fired shots from the front passenger window at the vehicle occupied by Kason and the others.

The woman said she had no idea what King was planning. She said he returned her car later that night.
