BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Wednesday’s weather in Bakersfield is going to be scorching hot, with temperatures reaching around 101°, just 2° below the record set in 1917.

As we move into Thursday, the heat will only intensify, with a high chance of breaking records. A heat advisory is in effect until Thursday at 11 p.m., along with a red flag warning for areas west of Kern County due to high temperatures, low humidity, and breezy conditions increasing the risk of fires.

Air quality will also worsen today, with an AQI of 150, remaining unhealthy for sensitive groups.

However, there is a brief cool down expected over the weekend, with temperatures dropping back to the mid 90s. Stay safe and stay cool!
