    1 dead after solo-vehicle crash sparks brush fire in Gorman: CHP

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person is dead following a solo-vehicle crash that sparked a brush fire on the southbound lanes of I-5 in Gorman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    On Wednesday, Fort Tejon CHP officers were dispatched to a brush fire on I-5, south of Gorman School Road, around 9:30 p.m.

    Officials at the scene found a crashed 2012 Honda off the west side of the highway with a deceased person inside.

    The brush fire prompted CHP to close the southbound number four lane while officials investigated. Southbound lanes reopened at 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

    The crash remains under investigation.
