BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Ongoing construction work on Truxtun Avenue just west of Oak Street is adding time to motorists commutes this week.

Cal Water said the agency is installing new water service lines and meters for Caltrans. The work is prompting lane closures between Westwind and Bahamas drives along Truxtun Avenue this week.

A Cal Water spokesperson said the construction work will continue Friday and into a part of next week, but will not take place over the weekend. Work crews will be working from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Eastbound lanes #1 and #2 and westbound lanes #2 and #3 will be closed along Truxtun Avenue for the work. A northbound left turn lane from Oak Street will be closed to allow for the Truxtun Avenue closures, a spokesperson said.
