    Arrest made in deadly NW Bakersfield stabbing

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Deputies have arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with a deadly stabbing that happened early Sunday in northwest Bakersfield, according to sheriff’s officials.

    Bradley Perez, 19, was arrested Thursday evening in east Bakersfield and is being held without bail in the death of Lawrence James Leyvas, 20, according to officials and booking information. He’s due in court Monday.

    Leyvas was stabbed around 2 a.m. on Sunday on Stone River Court, south of Hageman Road and west of Renfro Road, officials said. He was taken to Mercy Hospital Southwest where he was pronounced dead.
