John Enriquez receives key to the city of Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A community hero was honored Saturday morning with a special event at the Fox Theater.

John Enriquez, whose philanthropy has helped beautify the city for years, was present at the historical theater with many friends, family and even the mayor, who was present to give him the key to the city of Bakersfield.

Enriquez was happy to be receiving the award and excited to see everyone in the crowd.

“Well, it makes me feel very proud. I’m kind of surprised because I didn’t notice at home that they were missing,” said Enriquez. “It’s absolutely beautiful, I can’t thank Mayor Goh enough for that beautiful award that she gave me this morning. The key to the city, that means a lot. That’s big.”
