HONOLULU (KHON2) — Moanalua High School’s marching band is hoping to turn a negative situation into a positive one.

The trailer used to carry the band’s equipment that was sometime over the holiday break. A police report was filed, but no luck finding it.

The students have been getting by without it for the last few months, but it’s been a struggle having to carry the equipment from the band room to the practice field.

They’ve now started a fundraiser to buy a box truck, which they say would be safer and more useful to transport the instruments to other performance sites.

“Our trailer being stolen was really just a loss with the students and what we want to do and how we want to make music. So, everybody was just pretty frustrated, but a lot of us were really positive, hoping that the community could come out for us,” said Harley Sagucio, a member of the Moanalua High School marching band.

The Moanalua High School Booster Club is coordinating the fundraising effort.

They say even if they don’t raise enough money to buy a truck, they hope to at least collect enough to buy a new trailer.
