    Hawaii baseball routs Cal State Fullerton in opener

    The University of Hawaii baseball team opened its final series of the year with a 10-2 rout over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

    Hawaii improved to 35-16 overall, including 18-10 in Big West Conference play, winning 16 of their last 18 games.

    Harrison Bodendorf, who struck out 10 in a four-inning save at Long Beach State last week, struck out eight in his 4.1 innings of work, allowing three hits, two runs and two walks. Bodendorf got the no-decision, while Alex Giroux, who entered in relief in the fifth inning, got the win with 4.1 scoreless innings in which he struck out four, allowing three hits.

    Mikiah Negrete took the loss for Cal State Fullerton (16-36, 7-21 Big West) after giving up eight hits and four runs in 5.1 innings with seven strikeouts.

    Offensively, Jake Tsukada had four hits with three RBI for the Rainbow Warriors, while Kyson Donahue, DallasJ Duarte and Matthew Miura each added two hits. In total, nine players registered a hit for the ‘Bows.

    The Rainbow Warriors broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with seven runs, led by 2-RBI doubles by Tsukada and Jordan Donahue, as well as RBI singles from Kyson Donahue and DallasJ Duarte.

    The Rainbow Warriors and Titans resume their series on Friday at 6:35 p.m.
