HONOLULU (KHON2) — The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is alerting the public about an upcoming sandbag installation at Queen’s Beach, near Barefoot Beach Cafe in Kapiolani Park.

The work will start on Thursday, August 22, and wrap up by Friday, August 23.

Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

The sandbags are being placed to help prevent sediment from washing into the nearshore waters.

Sea Engineering Inc. is handling this project and will also develop a repair plan for the seawall and the damaged walkway.

Once the necessary permits are in place, repairs are expected to start.

During the two days of work, access to the area will be limited.

The city is prioritizing public health and safety, so pedestrians are advised to steer clear of the construction zone.

Safety personnel will be on site to monitor the work.

The City appreciates the community’s patience during this project.
