HONOLULU (KHON2) —The Honolulu Police Department is investigating the shooting of four individuals, including the suspect, in Waianae Valley.

Just after 11:15 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to multiple 911 calls coming from a Waianae residence reporting that their neighbor was operating a front loader and using it to ram various cars into the home.

“He rammed through the gate with something, I don’t know if it was a tractor or an excavator, and then he did what he did,” said one nearby resident.

“I just heard bah, bah, bah, bah, and then returning gunfire bam, bam, bam, bam and I was like oh those are gunshots, so I turned off all the lights in my house and waited to see if anyone came up my room and then a few minutes later you heard police cars in Waianae Valley,” the same neighbor said.

Police said multiple individuals were in the carport and fled or tried to flee when the suspect began shooting, striking the victims.

“I was just sleeping and then it was like bah bah bah bah guns going off, so I woke up it kept going off, just bah bah bah bah, and then some lady was yelling ‘help, help, help,’ and it sounded like someone was getting shot you know? Then it stopped for a while and it started up again bah bah bah bah,” another nearby resident told KHON2.

Many residents nearby said the two families had been feuding for several years.

During a press conference on Sunday, Honolulu police Chief Joe Logan said it was a targeted act, and not a random act.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services identified the deceased as a 34-year-old female, a 36-year-old female, and a 29-year-old female.

An additional two victims were taken to the hospital in varying conditions due to the gunshot wounds.

“I am deeply saddened and alarmed by the tragic shooting that occurred last night in Waianae, where four lives were lost, and two others were seriously injured. This incident, involving neighbors, has shaken our community to its core and is a painful reminder of the violence that has impacted Waianae too often in recent weeks. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and all those who are grieving in the wake of this senseless tragedy.

    Statement from Mayor Rick Blangiardi

The surviving victims are a 31-year-old male and a 52-year-old female.

The 42-year-old male resident who shot the suspect has been arrested for Murder in the Second Degree.

The investigation found the front loader was carrying four 55-gallon drums containing an

unknown fuel. However, at the scene on Sunday morning you could smell gasoline.

Some witnesses reported that the suspect shot rounds at the drums.

The Honolulu Fire Department Hazmat Team is assisting us with the removal of the drums.

On Sunday, a portion of the damaged home was seen with broken pillars and several vehicles underneath.
