The breezy easterly trade winds will continue through Tuesday, then lighten to a light to moderate breeze from Wednesday to Friday as a high weakens north of the state. Expect light showers mainly on windward and mauka (mountain) sides, with some brief showers possible in interior and leeward areas during the afternoons due to sea breezes. Breezy trade winds should return next weekend as high pressure builds to the north.

A ridge of high pressure will stay in place until Tuesday, then start to weaken as an upper low moves in from the southeast Tuesday night through midweek. A front is expected to stall several hundred miles north of the state from Wednesday onward. This will cause the breezy trade winds to become lighter. While deep moisture and instability will remain well north, keeping the weather mostly dry, light showers will still occur mainly on windward and mauka sides, especially overnight and in the morning. Some cloud buildup and brief showers may also happen in interior and leeward areas where sea breezes form as the trades lighten later in the week.

Breezy trade winds are expected to return later this weekend and into early next week as high pressure strengthens north of the region and moisture levels decrease.
