Maili shooting: 49-year-old charged

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Police records show 49-year-old Micah Araneta was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday night.

According to HPD, the 41-year-old victim was lying in his tent when Araneta approached and allegedly shot him multiple times just before 2 a.m.

The victim was able to walk to a bus stop and EMS was called while the suspect left the area in a truck.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

Police records show that Araneta and the victim knew each other.

The suspect was charged with attempted murder and a firearms charge. His bail was set at $2 million.
