HONOLULU (KHON2) — The state has announced a $235,000 grant to RYSE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to youth services and empowerment, which offers emergency shelter for homeless youth.

Carla Houser, executive director of RYSE, emphasized the challenges young people face in Hawaii, stating, “When you live in one of the states with the highest cost of living and haven’t completed your education or employment goals, it’s nearly impossible to thrive without adult support.”

First Lady Jaime Green highlighted the importance of the funding, saying, “This makes a huge difference for our youth who have nowhere to turn.

They need more than just a place to stay; they require comprehensive services.”
