    Hundreds march at Iolani Palace for 30th Men’s March Against Violence

    HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hundreds of marchers gathered at Iolani Palace this morning for the 30th Men’s March Against Violence, paying tribute to recent victims of domestic violence.

    Among those speaking was Lucita Ani-Nihoa, mother of Teresa Cachuela, who was tragically shot and killed by her husband at the Pearl Ridge Center last December.

    “This time, Mom, you’ve got to get up and start fighting. We need to forgive and live on her legacy,” Ani-Nihoa said. “That’s what we’re doing—we’re pushing for change.”

    Monique Ibarra, Chief Executive Officer of the Domestic Violence Action Center, emphasized the importance of men participating in the fight against violence.

    “It’s proactive and supportive for men to march and say that violence doesn’t belong in our families or our community,” Ibarra stated. “Let’s take a stand and show there’s a better way to live—a life of peace and safety for our families.”

    The event, organized by the Domestic Violence Action Center, aims to unite the community in creating a safer and more loving Hawaii.
