Motorcyclist left in critical condition after crashing into guardrail

KANEOHE, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department responded to a critical motor vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of Likelike Highway.

According to officials, the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Monday when a single-vehicle crash was reported east of the Wilson Tunnel entrance in Kaneohe.

Reports said the 23-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling southbound before he lost control of the bike.

He crashed into the guardrail and was thrown onto the roadway.

Before police arrived, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where his condition was unknown.

Later, the area hospital classified his condition as critical. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
