HONOLULU (KHON2) — As the 2024 General Election nears, when can voters expect to receive their ballot packets?

Ballot packets for the 2024 General Election will be mailed to active voters starting October 15, 2024, with delivery expected shortly thereafter.

Once the ballot is filled out, voters can either return it by mail or at a designated official drop box location.

There are 16 ballot drop locations across Oahu. They will open on Oct. 16 through 7 p.m. Nov. 5.

Voters who previously received mail at the now-closed Kealia Post Office are reminded to update their voter registration with a new mailing address.

The United States Postal Service cannot forward ballot packets to new addresses, even if a forwarding order is in place. Those who reregister after Oct. 15 will receive their ballots in a subsequent mailing.

If a voter receives a ballot packet for someone no longer residing at their address, they should write “NOT AT THIS ADDRESS” on the packet and return it to the USPS. This action will help update voter registration records.

Ballot drop boxes for the election will be available at various Kauai locations on Oct. 17 and 18. The locations are as follows:

    Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024:

    • Kōloa Neighborhood Center (3461 Weliweli Road)
    • Kalāheo Neighborhood Center (4480 Papalina Road)
    • Hanapēpē Neighborhood Center (4451 Puolo Road)
    • Waimea Neighborhood Center (4556 Makeke Road)
    • Elections Division (4386 Rice Street)

    Friday, Oct. 18, 2024:

    • Hanalei Neighborhood Center (5-5358 Kūhiō Highway)
    • Church of the Pacific (4520 Kapaka Road)
    • Aloha Petroleum Menehune Food Mart (4521 Kolo Road)
    • Kapa‘a Public Library (1464 Kūhiō Highway)

The drop boxes will be accessible 24/7 until 7 p.m. on General Election Day, Nov. 5, 2024. Ballots must be received, not postmarked, by 7 p.m. to be processed.
