Sixty-year-old Reynaldo Cheney was charged with murder and attempted murder, which led to the death of 22-year-old Kashka Otto.

Officials said the incident happened at Wendy’s in Nanakuli when Cheney was asked to stop moving furniture around the restaurant.

An argument formed when Cheney called Otto a derogatory name and the argument was taken outside.

Court documents stated Otto then punched Cheney, who then turned around and stabbed Otto and a Wendy’s manager.

Otto was then taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries. The second victim was treated and released.

“This was an egregious crime that took the life of a young man. We will do everything we can to protect the public by securing convictions in this case. This defendant would be subject to extended sentencing as a multiple offender which would mean life without the possibility of parole.

    Steve Alm, Prosecuting Attorney

Both attempted murder and murder “carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.”
