HONOLULU (KHON2) — A disturbance to the north and west of Hawaii is affecting high pressure, keeping wind speeds light to moderate in local waters this evening. An upper low west of the islands has moved away, bringing clearer skies across the state. There is minimal shower activity, mostly moving west over Kauai. Daytime heating has increased cloud cover on the leeward side of the Big Island, particularly between South Point and Kailua-Kona, though this should clear up later tonight.

A dry and moderate trade wind pattern will continue through the weekend, with stable conditions expected. Winds will remain light, and no significant changes are anticipated in the forecast for the week ahead. Breezy trades may briefly return early next week but are likely to settle back to moderate levels due to periodic passing fronts in the mid-latitude Pacific. There’s a possibility that tropical moisture could move in early next week, increasing shower activity on Monday night.
