400 neighbor island students can stay aboard Mighty Mo

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (KHON2) — It’s an experience neighboring island keiki don’t want to miss: a chance to stay aboard the Battleship Missouri.

Southwest Airlines and the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites Pearl Harbor Explorer Program partnered together to send 400 fourth through 12th-grade students to Oahu for a two-day Pearl Harbor experience.

The complimentary e-passes were donated by Southwest to help the neighboring island keiki experience historic icons and Hawaii history first-hand.

Keiki will have the opportunity to see the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum and more.

In addition, the experience features overnight accommodations arranged on the Battleship Missouri.

Pearl Harbor welcomes millions of visitors each year and we’re honored to play a role in making it attainable for keiki across the neighbor islands to experience first-hand the historic icons and history of Hawaii.

Teachers and school administrators are encouraged to submit an application explaining their interest in the program, anticipated student impact, financial and travel requirements and commitment to manage their travel manifest and logistics.

Applicants may also request transportation, museum admission fees, education program fees, meals and more.
