Currently, Hawaii is seeing a spike in cases of panleukopenia (distemper) and parvovirus – both of which are deadly and highly contagious. These diseases are also expensive to treat but entirely preventable with a simple vaccine. That’s according to Lisa Lane Cardin, Co-Founder at Aloha Animal Alliance.

Cardin said to help stop the spread of these deadly diseases, they’re teaming up with Hawaii County Animal Control and Protection, Action for Animals, and HAKA to host a Free Pet Vaccination event this Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cooper Center in Volcano.

Just bring your pets – cats in carriers and dogs on leashes with well-fitted collars – and they’ll provide free vaccines and microchips, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The County will also offer on-site pet licensing for a small fee.
