(KHQA) — The Palmyra Fire Department announced they will be constructing a new station in Taylor, Missouri.The announcement for a new satellite station is due to an uptick in calls in the Taylor and West Quincy area.The station is being paid for through funds that the fire department receives through the fire tax in the city.Palmyra Fire Chief Gary Crane says it is important to be near any situation, since it could be a matter of life or death."We do what we can with what we have to work with, by expanding and getting this other station going, and we'll move some trucks over to this building. We will be in good shape once we get some firefighters here," said Crane.The station will be located on County Road 175 in Taylor.The fire department will also be having an open house on August 27th to hopefully hire workers for the new satellite building once it opens.</div></body>
