The widening of the Copper Hill Bridge in Valencia, which aims to aid traffic flow, is set to begin Monday night.

The Copper Hill Bridge , located between McBean Parkway and Avenida Rancho Tesoro, is to have construction crews working for the remainder of the month.

The north side of the bridge will be expanded as part of this developer-led project. This move will provide three lanes of traffic in each direction, significantly improving traffic flow.

This expansion will also enhance safety with the addition of sidewalks, a median with landscaping, upgraded traffic signals, storm drains, curb ramps and street lighting. These improvements are all part of the project’s comprehensive scope of work, designed to benefit the community in the long run.

It will also improve accessibility for bicyclists and pedestrians by connecting to a Class 1 trail under the bridge and then returning to the north side of Copper Hill Drive.

With all the work being done, multiple lanes are set to be closed throughout the first phase of the construction process.

From May 13 through 17, two lanes on the bridge are set to be closed for construction from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

After a few days of rest the crews will be back at work from May 20 through the 24 with two lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

During the last block from May 28 to 31, there will be a full closure from McBean Parkway to Avenida Rancho Tesoro from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

The project is expected to be finished in March 2025. Commuters are advised to stay informed about the upcoming lane closures and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

To let drivers know about the upcoming lane closures, traffic signs will be put up.
