The Santa Clarita City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday night to discuss awarding contracts for improving bridges and roadways as part of regular upgrades to city infrastructure.

First on the list during the public meeting is an adjustment to the Consolidated Fire Protection District developer fees, which pay for the cost of fire stations, related fire protection improvements, and fire apparatuses such as engines.

The resolution would adjust developer fees by $0.0677 per square foot, compared to the previous $1.5499 per square foot, as required by the Developer Fee Detailed Fire Station Plan under the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

The City Council is also set to discuss an amendment to the Tourism Marketing Benefit Zone boundaries to include five new hotels operating in Santa Clarita.

The Tourism Marketing Benefit Zone refers to the area encompassing hotels that benefit from the city’s tourism marketing efforts. In return, the hotels located in the zone pay an assessment of “2 percent of total room rents charged and received.”

The hotels that would be newly added to the Benefit Zone are:

    • Homewood Suites Santa Clarita – 28700 Newhall Ranch Road
    • Hotel Lexen Newhall – 24219 Railroad Avenue
    • Springhill Suites Valencia – 27413 Wayne Mills Place
    • Residence Inn Valencia – 27413 Wayne Mills Place
    • Hampton Inn Santa Clarita – 28700 Newhall Ranch Road

The Santa Clarita City Council is also set to discuss the renewal of the city’s contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control for animal care and control services and award construction contracts for the 2023-24 Overlay and Slurry Seal Program – Overlay B and Slurry Seal projects.

Also on the agenda is an item to consider the award of a professional services contract for the Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program to provide guidance on preventative maintenance repairs to maximize the life expectancy of vehicular bridges throughout the city of Santa Clarita.

The City Council is also set to recognize the Saugus High School Competitive Cheer Team and receive a Silver Level Bike Friendly Community certificate.
