SCV Santa Creates GoFundMe After House Fire Destroys Props And Leaves Family Homeless

What was once a home filled with pets and a slew of Santa props burned down one Friday afternoon, leaving the Spargifiore family with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

On August 23, the Spargifore’s Palmdale home came burning after a rogue firework landed in their backyard.

Among the things lost in the fire were their family pets and props used for their nonprofit Christmas organization, SCV Santa.

Their life-size Santa, for example, was one of many handcrafted or specialty props lost in the fire. Many of the props are irreplaceable because they are no longer being made or were handmade. The fire also destroyed the toys they had been gathering all year to give to kids during Christmas.

“They continuously give back, raise funds for various charities and go out of their way for everyone they know,” stated a GoFundMe created for the family.

The GoFundMe detailed that the Spargifiore household was labeled a total loss, meaning the family can’t enter until the insurance company decides whether it should be restored or completely destroyed.

Currently, the family is living out of a hotel room and has not been given a time frame for when the insurance company will make a decision. While they are staying at a hotel, mortgage payments are still required on the burnt-down house.

Along with the inconvenience of being in a single hotel room, the family is forced to spend money on eating out daily since they cannot cook or store food.
