Firefighters Respond To Santa Clarita Brush Fire Near Newhall Pass

A Santa Clarita brush fire broke out near the 5  and 14 Freeways in Newhall Monday.

The brush fire was reported at about 11:49 a.m. Monday near the 5 and 14 Freeway Interchange in the Newhall Pass, according to initial reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

The fire is approximately one-quarter acre in size as of Monday afternoon, according to witnesses.

No injuries have been reported as of 12:02 p.m. Monday.

The Old Road and the southbound truck routes on the 5 Freeway were temporarily blocked due to the incident, according to CHP incident logs.
