Naval Petty Officer from Houston pinned to Chief

HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Damage Controlman Chief Petty Officer Cameron Michalak , a Houston native, was recently promoted to chief petty officer.

Michalak received his chief cover during a pinning ceremony held on the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83) in the South China Sea on September 27.

The USS Howard is forward-deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.

The USS Howard is one of four guided-missile destroyers assigned to DESRON 15.
