HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Residents in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas are still picking up the pieces after more than a week after Hurricane Helene struck the states, killing over 200 people .

However, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, adding more damage throughout the state with millions of residents without power . Milton even tore through the Tropicana Field’s roof in St. Petersburg.

Centerpoint Energy is working to helping other utility companies to help restore power to the millions of residents in the dark. For the past few weeks, the company sent 300 frontline workers and contractors to the states hit hard by Helene.

This week, they sent an additional 300 personnel to help in restoration efforts in Florida after Milton.

“We always answer the call when our peer companies in other parts of the country make these requests. Hurricane Milton is another one of those opportunities to help others…As those colleagues support restoration efforts, we remain prepared and ready to respond to any operational needs in our electric service territories,” SVP of Electric Business Darin Caroll said.
