HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Former Houston police officer and convicted murderer Gerald Goines has begun his prison sentence in Navasota.

Prison records from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice show Goines is at the Pack unit.

He was sentenced to 60 years for the murders of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas. The couple were shot along with their dog after officers burst into their home using a “no-knock” warrant that didn’t require them to announce themselves before entering.

Goines admitted he lied to obtain the “no-knock” warrant used in the botched drug raid that killed the couple in their home five years ago.

Goines had been free on bond since he was charged, but he was taken into custody following his conviction last month by the same jury.
