HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Authorities are investigating a wrong-way crash in west Harris County that left one person dead and one injured.

It happened around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the 13300 block of West Little York Road.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office arrived at the scene and found one person dead and another person who was transported by ambulance in unknown condition.

Investigators said that a silver Honda Accord was traveling westbound on West Little York and crossed over the center divider into the eastbound lanes.

A red Honda Juke was traveling eastbound on West Little York when both vehicles collided head-on, authorities said.

The driver of the Juke, an elderly white man, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Accord, a Hispanic teenager, was taken by ambulance and is in stable condition.

Investigators are seeing if intoxication was a factor in the crash, but they believe speed may have been another factor in the crash due to the evidence.

    The investigation is ongoing.
