HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — Police in north Houston are investigating a shooting early Thursday morning that started from a dispute between roommates.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Thursday at the Landings at Northpoint apartment complex, located at 220 Northpoint Drive, in the Greenspoint area.

Police said the two men had been arguing for the past few days.

“One of those males picked up a dumbbell and threatened to kill his roommate,” Lt. Riley of HPD said. “The roommate produced a firearm and shot the roommate in self-defense.”

Police said the roommate who shot the other, stayed on the scene. The one who was shot was taken to the hospital and treated for gunshot wounds to the legs. He is expected to survive.

There is no word yet on any charges.
