Double homicide-suicide stems from domestic violence incident in South Houston

HOUSTON (KIAH) — A domestic dispute turned deadly late Friday night in South Houston, resulting in three deaths including two Good Samaritans who tried to help a woman fleeing from domestic violence.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the 11700 block of South Spicewood, where according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a woman and her two teenage children fled their home to seek refuge at a neighbor’s house following a domestic altercation with her live-in boyfriend.

The boyfriend, described as a man in his 20s, followed them to the neighboring residence. During a violent confrontation in the front yard, he fatally shot two brothers who lived at the residence – Guatemalan nationals aged approximately 50 and 30. A third brother engaged in a shootout with the suspect, who then went back into his own residence where he died by apparent suicide according to local authorities.

Investigators revealed that authorities had responded to a domestic violence call at the same address just days before the tragic incident. The woman and her teenage children, who remained inside during the shooting and did not witness it, are safe and cooperating with law enforcement. The surviving brother was unharmed and is also assisting with the investigation.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
