HOUSTON ( KIAH ) — If you liked the fall-like weather that southeast Texas had this week, you’re going to be a bit disappointed with next week’s forecast. Warm temperatures are expected to return this week, but only until Thursday.

According to CW39 chief meteorologist Jonathan Novack, the winds shifted more easterly, and for this weekend, this means a gradual warming trend in southeast Texas, as well as some rough surf at the coast. A small craft advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Monday morning, as wind gusts are up to 25 knots.

Temps on Sunday remained in the mid-80s for the area under mostly sunny skies. Sugar Land hit 86 degrees, while Galveston was at 80 degrees. For Sunday night, it will be mostly clear with temps ranging from the mid-50s to the low 60s.

The warmup continues on Monday, with highs expected to be from the high 70s into the high 80s. Lows will be from the low 50s to the mid-70s.

By the middle of next week, our temperatures will climb back above average before the next cold front approaches on Thursday, which could bring some much-needed rain to the area.
