    Investigation indicates woman killed by flying semi-tire

    REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office said a wheel that came off a trailer killed a 70-year-old woman.

    Treva Ward was found dead along State Highway 33 west of Rexburg on Monday morning.

    The sheriff's office indicated that Ward was near her home when a wheel suddenly came off a semi-trailer and struck her.

    The truck driver came back to the scene after learning of the lost tire.

    An autopsy was performed Wednesday by the Ada County Coroner's office. It showed Ward had suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

    The sheriff's office said the incident is still under investigation and more details could be released at a later date.
