What Would It Take for Pirates to Land Outfielder?
The Pittsburgh Pirates are presumably buyers with the MLB trade deadline coming up Tuesday. The Pirates are just two games out of the third and final National League wild-card berth despite a lackluster 53-52 record. In what was as close to a must-win game as can be in July, the Pirates edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 in 10 innings on Sunday in Phoenix.

Steelers' Kyle Allen Takes Subtle Jab At Offense For Previous '7 Shots' Failure
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to figure their new offense out to begin training camp, but that's pretty hard to do when the expected starting quarterback, Russell Wilson, is out due to injury. Because of this, Justin Fields has been leading the first-team offense throughout the first part of training camp. That also means that Kyle Allen has been given the chance to lead the second-team offense, as opposed to playing on scout team like a third-string quarterback usually would. Both have been getting plenty of reps in their usual "seven shots" drill. After Sunday's practice, Allen made an appearance on the Steelers' Training...

Pittsburgh Steelers Staying ‘Open-Minded’ About Starting Quarterback Job In 2024
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense will look very different in 2024. Kenny Pickett has been traded away to the Philadelphia Eagles after two seasons of subpar play. To replace him, the team brought in former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and traded for former Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Many assumed Wilson would be the starter in week 1 due to his past pedigree. However, reports indicate the team is being more “open-minded” about their quarterback competition.

PHOENIX — Ji Hwan Bae scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in Pittsburgh's four-run 10th inning, Joey Bart hit a tying run-scoring double in the ninth and the Pirates rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Sunday. The teams combined for five hits through eight innings,...
Steelers wrap week one of training camp, Wilson makes slow return from calf injury
WJET/WFXP (Latrobe, PA)–The Steelers have made it through one week of training camp. Quarterback Russell Wilson ran through agility drills and took some rep on Sunday but was still limited due to his calf tightness that continues to hold him back. Head coach Mike Tomlin announced that Wilson will fully return to practice […]
Steelers' Winners And Losers From First Week Of 2024 Training Camp
The Pittsburgh Steelers will enjoy a day off on Monday before putting on the pads come Tuesday's training camp practice. The first week was highlighted by a sudden calf injury to Russell Wilson, which highlighted the play of Justin Fields. The veteran in Wilson is expected to be back for the second week and it will be interesting to see how he operates with the first-team offense. After an exciting few practices, the coaching staff is likely already getting an idea of how the 53-man roster should be formed. Things can change when the pads go on, but for now, there...

Dan’s Daily: Why John Gibson Wasn’t Traded; Future Penguins Core
The Pittsburgh Penguins prospects countdown reached No. 1 Sunday, and there is a new top dog in the 2024 PHN rankings. Unlike in years past, when compiling the list, it felt like the Penguins had a future. I dare submit that Penguins fans might want to borrow a page from the Pirates fans and start to like prospects coverage. Elsewhere in the Daily, Eric Stephens answered the question, why haven’t the Anaheim Ducks traded John Gibson? After all, the guy has been on the NHL trade block and has wanted out of Anaheim for at least two years. Colleagues slapped a grade on the Philadelphia Flyers signing Travis Konecny to a huge contract, our Detroit colleagues shined a light on the player development of the Detroit Red Wings, and dreams do come true in Florida.
Mike Tomlin Praises ‘Highly Conditioned’ Payton Wilson: ‘Showing Itself In The Form Of Hustle’
Coming into training camp as an NFL rookie can be very eye-opening for a lot of reasons. From the physicality to the pace to the necessary conditioning needed, it can be a real wake-up call for young players who might think they’re in football shape but not truly in training camp shape.
