Report: Red Sox Strengthen Pitching Depth with Trade from Pirates
The Boston Red Sox have acquired right-hander Quinn Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infielder Nick Yorke, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. There is no room for Priester in Boston’s rotation, but he will supplement its starting pitching depth. The 23-year-old hasn’t shown much at the major league level, collecting a .646 ERA and 67:40 K:BB over 94 2/3 innings. Priester is a former top-100 prospect with a 3.50 ERA and 25.1 percent strikeout rate during his time at the Double- and Triple-A levels. Yorke was the No. 17 draft pick in 2020. He has a .277/.359/.437 slash line in 370 minor league games, reaching Triple-A for the first time this year. More to come.
Steelers' Winners And Losers From First Week Of 2024 Training Camp
The Pittsburgh Steelers will enjoy a day off on Monday before putting on the pads come Tuesday's training camp practice. The first week was highlighted by a sudden calf injury to Russell Wilson, which highlighted the play of Justin Fields. The veteran in Wilson is expected to be back for the second week and it will be interesting to see how he operates with the first-team offense. After an exciting few practices, the coaching staff is likely already getting an idea of how the 53-man roster should be formed. Things can change when the pads go on, but for now, there...

Pirates vs. Astros: Monday, July 29, 2024
PIRATES VS. ASTROS: MONDAY, JULY 29, 2024 — At a time when Houston needs to be building momentum, it’s instead got the worst possible matchup in the majors right now. The one saving grace when facing Paul Skenes is the team he plays for. The Pirates are just an average ball club overall, even though they have things going in the right direction. But when Skenes takes the mound, average becomes outstanding. Skenes has been practically automatic at keeping teams from getting going at the plate, even as the Pirates’ offense contributes little.

Former Ravens Safety 'Way More Blessed' With Steelers
As if the rivalry between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers wasn't fiery enough, the burning hatred between them has only grown stronger this offseason. That increase in intensity mainly has to do with linebacker Patrick Queen, who signed with Pittsburgh in March after a Pro Bowl season in Baltimore. Queen has quickly leaned into being on the other side of the rivalry, taking multiple shots at his former team and flat out stating he wants to embrace the villain role.
5 observations as Steelers training camp ramps up intensity with pads coming on
Jul. 29—It's been a relatively drama-free start to the 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers training camp. No holdouts or "hold-ins". No major skirmishes. No off-field controversy. No significant injuries. (During practice, anyway). None other than the new starting quarterback, of course, has missed the entirety of camp because of a calf strain suffered during, of all things, the conditioning test. And ...

Will Steelers’ Rookie OL Rise Up Depth Chart As Pads Come On?
Will the Steelers’ rookie offensive linemen rise as they put the pads on?. The next training camp practice the Steelers conduct will be in full pads, a momentous day in the camp calendar. It is the time that practice shifts from football in shorts to actual football, especially in Latrobe with live tackling. It is the ideal environment in which to evaluate, particularly the offensive and defensive linemen.
