The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired CB Donte Jackson this offseason to make plays, and he made the first of training camp. Off a poorly thrown ball by QB Justin Fields, he read the throw and broke coverage to make the interception. While it wasn’t necessarily highlight-reel material athletically, it showed his instincts, which he intends to bring to the defense.

Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Paul Skenes Fills Up History Books Yet Again on Monday Night
The Pittsburgh Pirates rallied for four runs in the eighth and ninth innings on Monday night to stun the Houston Astros 5-3 at MinuteMaid Park. The win moves the Pirates to 54-52 and keeps them on the fringes of the National League playoff picture, while the loss dropped the Astros to 55-51. They remain in a tie with the Mariners in the American League West race.

NFL Transactions Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers have released DB Josiah Scott, according to Jeremy Fowler. Scott, 25, was drafted by the Jaguars in the fourth round out of Michigan State in 2020. Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson left Tuesday's practice on a cart. He appeared to sustain an ankle injury while being tackled on a jet sweep during a short-yardage drill. Reports: Pirates add LHP Jalen Beeks in deal with Rockies
The red-hot Pittsburgh Pirates acquired left-handed pitcher Jalen Beeks from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league left-hander Luis Peralta, MLB.com and USA Today reported Monday. Beeks, 31, appeared in a career-high 45 games out of the bullpen in his first season with Colorado. He is 6-4 this year with nine saves (also a career high) and a 4.74 ERA. In six seasons spent with the Boston Red Sox (2018), Tampa Bay Rays (2019-23) and Rockies, Beeks has gone 22-15 with 14 saves and a 4.43 ERA. Peralta, 23, has played in the Pirates' farm system since 2018. He is 4-0 with a 0.91 ERA in 26 relief appearances between High-A and Double-A this year.
