Superior Court reverses judge's bail denial in Sewickley torture case
Three months after an Allegheny County judge denied bail to a suspect accused of torturing a man in Sewickley, an appeals court ruled that he must be granted bail. Pennsylvania law says that every criminal defendant is entitled to bail unless they face a potential life prison term or there is no combination of bail conditions that could ensure the safety of the community.

Steelers Training Camp Thoughts: Roman Wilson impresses, Troy Fautanu flashes
LATROBE, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers practiced in the heat of the afternoon for their third day in Latrobe in front of a packed house. However, just two days before the team took the field with pads on, this day had some standouts. Here are the takeaways from the team’s third practice:
A sunny summer Sunday
PITTSBURGH — Another day of abundant sunshine is on the way. The temperature and humidity will tick up a bit with highs around 90 degrees. The new work week will bring a daily dose of showers. Monday's chances will be isolated and mainly confined to the afternoon hours. The coverage will become scattered on Tuesday. These run-of-the-mill summer showers will continue through Thursday. Rainfall amounts don't look that impressive with a grand total up to a half inch or so. Meanwhile, the hot temperatures will extend into the early days of August.

Steelers WR Learning From Antonio Brown
PITTSBURGH -- Following the third day of Pittsburgh Steelers' training camp, wide receiver Van Jefferson stayed on the field. He and fellow WR Calvin Austin III took turns catching passes from the Jugs machine and trying to deflect one another's receptions. Jefferson didn't just catch a few balls after practice,...
George Pickens Gets Into Heated Exchange With Steelers WRs Coach
George Pickens’ effort has been called into question before. And the 23-year-old wideout took exception to new Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni calling him out for questionable effort during practice last week, leading to a “heated exchange” between the two, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Pittsburgh Steelers Staying ‘Open-Minded’ About Starting Quarterback Job In 2024
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense will look very different in 2024. Kenny Pickett has been traded away to the Philadelphia Eagles after two seasons of subpar play. To replace him, the team brought in former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and traded for former Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Many assumed Wilson would be the starter in week 1 due to his past pedigree. However, reports indicate the team is being more “open-minded” about their quarterback competition.
Steelers training camp: A rookie and a punter — yes, a punter — steal the show
LATROBE, Pa. — A Jaylen Warren run and a George Pickens catch got the biggest reactions from the overflowing crowd at Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon, and understandably so. Warren and Pickens are two of the most critical components of the 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers. But only in Pittsburgh...
Steelers still expected to make WR trade, but there’s a catch

The Steelers are expected to make a trade. But there’s a catch, according to espn.com. Dan Graziano agrees the...
Steelers' Omar Khan 'Has Been Frugal' But Needs To Extend Pat Freiermuth Immediately
The Pittsburgh Steelers front office and General Manager Omar Khan should be fairly active during training camp when it comes to contract talks with some of their players. Cam Heyward, Pat Freiermuth, and Najee Harris are all heading into the final year of their respective contracts, and it would benefit Pittsburgh to lock up some of them past the 2024 season. Freiermuth is especially seen as a priority, as the tight end position is a strong focal point in Arthur Smith's offense. Freiermuth has had a somewhat inconsistent career so far in Pittsburgh. He has struggled with injuries, but has also been very productive for...

Steelers Quarterback Justin Fields Has His Best Day Of Training Camp So Far On Day 4
The Pittsburgh Steelers opened training camp on July 25th in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. A lot of fans' attention was set to be focused on the quarterback competition between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. However, Wilson has been dealing with a calf injury that he suffered pushing a sled during a conditioning workout on reporting day. Wilson's minor injury has kept him out of team reps and pushed Fields into more first-team reps than initially expected. Wilson has yet to practice with a helmet on through four days of training camp which has created a big opportunity for Fields to make his case for the...

Pirates Place Nick Gonzales on 10-Day Injured List
The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed second baseman Nick Gonzales on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain. Gonzales left Saturday’s loss in Arizona after getting injured while running to first base. To take his spot on the roster, the Pirates recalled infielder Alika Williams from Triple-A Indianapolis. Gonzales made his season debut with the Pirates on May 10 after he was brought up from Indianapolis. Through 65 games this season, the 25-year-old has slashed .258/.293/.387 with 13 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 39 RBIs in 65 games. The Pirates’ second baseman has developed a knack for providing some late-game...
