Classmate receives thanks
The Madonna High School Class of 1964 held its 60th class reunion Saturday at Undo’s Restaurant in Weirton. There were 35 people attending the dinner. Classmates presented Marlene Runkel with a token of their appreciation for keeping the class members informed of the lives of all members through a monthly newsletter. Runkel has kept the class informed and has been the leader in planning their class reunions for several years. Classmate Dave Capito stated, “If it weren’t for Marlene, we would not be here together today.” Making the tribute to her was, from left, Capito, Runkel and Jim Pauchnik.
Jobs and pay jump for new lawyers, Pittsburgh firms weigh in
As of mid-March, 2023 law school graduates were riding high with record setting salaries and employment rates. Select findings from NALP's upcoming 50th annual "Jobs & JDs" report revealed that the median law firm salary was $165,000, up 10% from last year, marking the ninth such consecutive increase. Some 92.6% of graduates were employed, the highest rate recorded to date. Private practice employment was at the highest level in more than 30 years as 58.2% of employed graduates worked at a law firm.

On Wednesday, Chris Guiliano, a Daniel Boone graduate, finished eighth in the 100 freestyle final in the Paris Olympics. Guiliano completed the event in 47.98. He placed seventh in the 100 freestyle semifinals with a time of 47.72 to qualify for Wednesday’s final. He won the 100 freestyle at last month’s U.S. Olympic Trials.
