The men were driving in Rhode Island on Route 101 toward Connecticut when they failed to stop for officers. Shortly after, the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was involved in a one-vehicle collision on the highway near 771 Hartford Turnpike, running off the road and rolling over to return to the roadway right side up. They then abandoned the car on the side of the road and fled the scene by foot, according to witnesses.

Police said that the vehicle was stolen from the town of Hebron on Sunday. The four occupants: 19-year-old Johnathan Beckford, 18-year-old Charles Woodall, 19-year-old Adrian Ortega and 18-year-old Santana Rodriguez, were all charged with interfering with police. Woodall, who was driving the car, was additionally charged with reckless driving, larceny of a motor vehicle and evading responsibility.
