I remain thankful to Ogden Newspapers and its many daily and weekly newspapers here in West Virginia and bordering states that run my news stories and this weekly column. Ten Tyler Mountain firefighters resign, citing issues with administration
CROSS LANES, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Kanawha County community will be losing multiple firefighters who announced a "mass exodus" Monday, citing issues with administration. Ten members of the Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department submitted a joint resignation letter, alleging "nepotism, dishonesty and ultimately decisions being made that are not in the best interest of the community."
FEMA relocates Kanawha County disaster recovery center to St. Albans
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster relief center for survivors of April storms in Kanawha County will soon be relocated. The center at Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department in Charleston will be closing Monday and a new location is set to open Tuesday in St. Albans, according to a news release from the agency.
