ELECTION 2024: Almost time for primary voting
When you’re ready to put your primary-election ballot in a King County Elections dropbox, remember that we now have four in West Seattle, with the addition of that one by Morgan Junction Park. First, of course, you’ll have to get your ballot, and that could happen as soon as Thursday, because they’re set to be mailed out tomorrow (Wednesday, July 17). If you want to preview what’s on yours, go here. You’ll see 14 races – U.S. Senate, U.S. House District 7, Governor (28 candidates!), Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Auditor, State Attorney General, State Commissioner of Public Lands, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, State Insurance Commissioner, State House Representative Positions 1 and 2, State Supreme Court Justice Position 2, Seattle City Council citywide Position 8. Once you get your ballot, you have until 8 pm August 6 to get it in a dropbox; if you’re using postal mail, you just have to be sure it’ll be postmarked by that date.

Drugs, guns, chemicals used to make explosives discovered at North Bend home
A shooting in North Bend led King County deputies to seize pounds of drugs, numerous guns, and even chemicals used to make explosives. In May, a deputy was denied access to a home where a shooting was reported. In an effort to get possible video of the shooting, the deputy obtained a search warrant. During a search of the home, police not only found drugs and guns, but also that the home was badly contaminated with drugs. When the Gun Violence Reduction Unit and the Bomb Disposal Unit were summoned, chemicals and materials used to make homemade bombs were found as well. Though the two suspects fled, they eventually were taken into custody by the SWAT team.

King County Parks hosting FREE youth programs with Sack Lunches this summer
King County Parks will host families for a summer of parks and recreation youth programs – including free Sack Lunches for kids under 18 – in White Center and Skyway. Recreation Aides support Summer Sack Lunch sites and lead recreational activities like games, arts and crafts, and athletics for groups of children and teens in a variety of settings.
