King County Metro bus drives down embankment in Renton, injuring 8
RENTON, Wash. — Eight people were injured when a King County Metro bus driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed down an embankment in Renton on Friday night. Renton police and firefighters responded to the area of South 15th Street and Talbot Road South around 6:30 p.m. The Metro bus crashed into an embankment and became stuck in a ditch, police said.
Metro Seeking Input on RapidRide K
After pausing work on RapidRide K (Totem Lake to Eastgate via Kirkland and Bellevue) in 2020, King County Metro has restarted planning and design of the project. Building on the planning effort started in 2019, Metro is seeking community input on various aspects of project design, including walking/rolling access and the siting of a few specific stations. The route is currently expected to start service in 2030.
#20 Bus Slated for Elimination … Apparently
Back in August of last year, Gary wrote about the possible elimination of #20 bus service which, then, never happened. However, the drama continues. Wallyhood was contacted by neighbors several weeks ago concerning the elimination of #20 bus service in September as part of a reduction and consolidation of bus service as the Link light rail Lynnwood extension opens this Fall. The #20 serves the northern and eastern extremes of Wallingford. (See Metro’s map here.)
