The Maine Mariners announced on Tuesday, July 23rd that Dexter Paine has reached agreement to purchase the team from Comcast Spectacor. A native of North Conway, New Hampshire, and lifelong Boston Bruins fan, Dexter Paine has long been a leading voice in organized elite sports. Since 2021, he has served as a member of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Board of Directors and is on both the boards of US Biathlon and United States Ski and Snowboard. He is actively involved in the Salt Lake City 2034 Olympic Winter Games bid, and currently serves as a member of the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS) Council. He is the co-founder and Chairman of Paine Schwartz Partners, a private equity firm specializing in sustainable food chain investing.
Skowhegan tops 36ers in American Legion Southern Zone championship
The Boothbay 36ers may be down, but they are not out of the Maine State American Legion tournament. Skowhegan defeated Boothbay, 4-3, on July 22 in the Maine State American Legion Senior Baseball tournament. Skowhegan earns the No. 1 south seed in this weekend’s state tournament in Bangor. Boothbay will be the No. 2 south seed. The 36ers will play at 4:30 p.m. on July 27 at Mansfield Stadium. Each of the four state tournament participants also play a Sunday game.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A stalled out front will across the northern half of the state today combined with low pressure moving into the Eastern Great Lakes will keep us under plenty of clouds and the chance for a few scattered showers as we head through our Wednesday. Showers look to be pretty widely scattered and therefore the day will not be a washout and there will be plenty of dry hours mixed in. The clouds and an onshore breeze will keep temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70° along the coast with low to mid-70s inland. Low pressure approaching from the west will give us a chance for a few showers through the overnight hours. Otherwise expect plenty of clouds with areas of fog. Temperatures will drop to the mid-50s to low 60s.

Following the release of the U.S. Army Reserve's investigation into the Lewiston shooter, Maine's political leaders are calling on the Department of Defense to make changes. “While we cannot undo this tragedy, we can do our best to learn from past errors," the Delegation wrote in a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
